Q: Does it come with a cord and if so, how long? Is it a plug in cord to the unit? Thanks.
A: The magnetic cord provided with the 05470 fryer is about 26 inches long.

Q: will it activate your fire alarm?
A: Certain oils have a lower smoke point like extra virgin olive oil. Be mindful of what oil you use. Generally it does not set off fire alarms. To keep deep fryer smells/smoke to a minimum in your house, you may want to keep the fryer near a vent (like your stove range hood). Give us a call if you wish to discuss this further. Q: Is the main "tub" where the oil goes removeable so that it's easier to pour the oil out once finished?
A: The oil is poured directly into the deep fryer. There is no removable pot. We recommend cooling the oil completely, then pouring the oil into a strainer to remove food particles. Straining the oil into a bowl with a pour spout may be helpful if you are storing the oil for another time. You can then pour it into an air tight container. Q: Can you cook with the lid closed?
A: You may close the cover with this deep fryer if you wish, but use caution. When lowering a basket containing uncooked potatoes, make sure the oil does not bubble up to the rim of the fryer. (for example, pat the potatoes dry before placing them in the oil) If it appears that the oil will bubble up to the rim, raise the basket and allow the oil to subside. Then slowly lower the basket again. Repeat until the basket is completely lowered into the fryer. Then begin your timing. Complete instructions are included with the fryer. Q: Does instructions come with the fryer. Times and temperature for various foods?
A: A manual will come with the deep fryer. It does have instructions on how to use the appliance along with a time table for temps and recommended food, along with a few recipes. A: Presto products are manufactured in China. However, the design, marketing, sale, and distribution are all done in the US. Q: during cleaning, can the outlets where the cord gets attached get wet? I would not immerse n water or put in dishwasher but do I have to be careful do not get that section wet?

Q: can you store used oil in it for another use?
A: Because the fryer is not air tight, it is not recommended to store oil. For best results, strain the oil and place it in an air-tight container for future use.
