Q: How long will the coffee remain hot ?

submitted by Me - 5 years ago
  • A: I would say hot for 3-4 hours. I've had a cup 6 hours later and it was still warm.

submitted byKaren - 5 years ago
  • A: I think the important part about keeping the coffee hot, is that one needs to keep the lid on. You can brew it, and pour it, with the lid sealed (Hey... it's magic!!!). If the lid is removed, it will allow the coffee to cool much quicker.

submitted byWally - 5 years ago
  • A: Hot for an hour or two, warm for longer

submitted byAllen - 5 years ago
  • A: Never really gets hot due to its poor design. Keeps the coffee slightly above room temperature for maybe an hour.

    submitted byboiu90 - 4 years ago
  • A: I literally timed it because there were so many comments here. I timed it for over a day. When I first brewed the coffee the temp was 182 degrees. 27 hours later it was still steaming when I removed the lid and my digital temp read 132 degrees. I’d say the coffee stays HOT!!

Q: is this the DCC 3400?

submitted by DESMADRE - 5 years ago
  • A: Not so it turns off and the remaining coffee is cold so whether your making 4 or 12 cups less than a hour the coffee is cold.

submitted byBea Jersey - 5 years ago
  • A: No, this is an exclusive Target version. Only found at Target and it has amazing performance.

    submitted byGinaB2323 - 5 years ago
  • A: It's model DCC-3850TG.

    submitted by2Cents - 5 years ago
  • A: Per Cuisanart, the replacement decanter is the same as the Cuisanart DCC 3400. Question for Cuisanart rep: What are the specific differences, if any, between this Target model and the DCC 3400?

Q: Is the carafe easy and comfortable to handle? Does it drip?

submitted by Mykaz - 5 years ago
  • A: I would say no, it is not at all easy and comfortable to handle. It is much heavier than a glass carafe. And, because the coffee doesn't pour out easily, you will have to turn your wrist much further to get coffee that builds up in the rim to pour out.

submitted byRorie - 5 years ago
  • A: It is easy and comfortable to handle. It does not drip unless you to do not have the top on the carafe.

submitted byConair's Answers Team - 5 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: It is nearly impossible to handle, never empties out completely, and has a big lip on the interior that prevents fluids from flowing out without spilling all over everything (and that is with the lid on properly to allow for pouring).

Q: I need to be able to scrub the inside of this stainless steel pot, question is will my large man hands fit inside? Even if I have to use a bit of soap to get 1 of my mits inside, is fine with me!

submitted by James - 1 year ago

  • A: No your man hand nor will my wife's small hand fit in through the top of the pot. A bit disappointed with this. With my B&D I am replacing, due to age, I was able to easily fit my man hand into .

Q: What size cone paper filters should I buy and also what size charcoal filter should I buy?

submitted by Chris K - 2 years ago
  • A: Chris, this item comes wihth a permanent filter. Do not use a permanent and paper filter at the same time. There are replacement charcoal filters available for purchase on the Cusinart web site.

submitted byMarcus - 2 years ago
  • A: Use a #4 cone paper filter if you want. That is what I do. I took out the gold filter. The machine actually comes with four cone filters.

Q: Does the coffee pot have a beep? and if it does, can you turn it off?

submitted by questionasker - 2 years ago
  • A: this machine does have an audible beeping sound, however, you can turn it off (and it will stay off until you turn it back on)

submitted byTearna - 8 months ago
  • A: This machine does not have an audible beeping sound.

Q: does the resting plate for the stainless steel thermal pot rust?

submitted by Terri - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Terri! No, it does not rust.

  • A: Hi Terri - No, the Cuisinart 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker pot does not rust.

Q: can you use a paper filter in Cuisinart coffee makers with reusable filter, ex; Cuisinart 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker - Stainless Steel - DCC-3850TG

submitted by LK - 4 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your inquiry about the Cuisinart C12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker. We do not suggest using a paper filter AND the gold tone filter simultaneously as that could cause water to back up and over flow. Using one or the other works just fine.

submitted byProduct Expert - 4 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Remove the gold tone filter and use #4 cone filters. Works great. Your machine should have come with four paper cone filters. Mine did,

submitted byDuke - 1 year ago

Q: I just purchased the Cuisinart DCC-3850 coffeemaker (from Target) I've noticed that when it finishes brewing it turns off is there a way to keep it on? I brew 12 cups and after less then an a hour the coffee turns off.

submitted by Bea Jersey - 5 years ago
  • A: the thermal coffee pot will keep your coffee warm and does not need to be connected to warming plate.

submitted byConair's Answers Team - 5 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: The point of having a thermal coffee carafe is so the coffee stays hot without being on a warming plate. So, of course it turns "off" after brewing. The carafe also keeps the coffee from burning.

Love the looks of my Cuisenart coffeemaker. I wanted the thermal carafe to keep the coffee hot as I enjoy my morning coffee in the morning. My only issue is getting the last half cup to pour out of the carafe. The design of the spout should be improved.

Got this coffee maker for a great price on clearance. Coffee making performance is great. Coffee tastes great. Enjoy timer feature. Carafe keeps coffee warm for a long period of time. Only downside is coffee carafe/pot does not empty easily…there’s always residual coffee or water in the pot after you think you e completely emptied it.

Can’t go wrong with Cuisinart!

It’s a functional extremely well made coffeemaker especially having the thermal carafe to keep the coffee hot which it does for a few hours. The only downside is the carafe is heavy when full and as you get down to a few cups, you have to tip it awkwardly forward to pour which makes it drip.

Great Coffeemaker!

SchoolMom - 1 month ago, Verified purchaser
Hi we purchased this coffeemaker about 10 months ago and are very pleased. Prior we purchased multiple coffee pots in the $60 range and they only lasted 6-9mos. We tried a cheap coffee pot, and that did not work out either. Finally, we were introduced to an amazing stainless machine that was extremely expensive. This coffeemaker, still being kind of pricy but not ridiculous, has been a great investment! It does not get hot on the exterior and burn you or the countertop, but the coffee stays hot for hours even though the unit does not stay "on" or on "brew," so that you get stinky old coffee. The coffee tastes great. It still works! Hopefully we get many years out of this one!

Faulty Clock

Redlorenzo - 1 month ago

Had purchased 2 coffee makers , the first had a faulty clock , it would advance in minutes so any programs of setting to start would be brewing incorrectly causing the coffee to go cold in the morning. The maker it self was great in brewing. I bought a second one and it did the same thing , So I returned both.

Engineering issues

We returned this. Your engineers need to return to the drawing board with the carafe design. Difficult to get all the fluid out, difficult to clean, and it doesn't keep the coffee very warm once the burner is off.

Works great and makes coffee fast! Only negative is the shape of the carafe makes getting the last of the coffee out a little difficult and sloppy. Same for filling the reservoir with water if filling from the carafe. Overall I’m happy.

The only thing I don’t like is the heating pad turns off as soon as the coffee is done. While the thermal pot does keep it warm for awhile, I’d rather have the option of controlling the heating pad.

I bought this a month ago, and I'm very pleased. It's quiet to brew, and the coffee has good flavor. While I do love the thermos, it keeps the coffee hot all day! But i do get a little frustrated with the pour, as it leaks. Ive tried different pour methods to rectify it, and it seems you have to take the lid off for it not to leak, and pour correctly. I'd give 5 stars if it didn't leak.

Very Good coffee maker - hot and fairly fast. The thermal carafe keeps the brew from oxidation and maintains the flavor pretty well even couple of hours later. My negative comment is it is difficult to fill the water reservoir using the thermal carafe as the carafe don't really empty out completely. I use a typical kitchen large measuring cup to fill the reservoir.

We’ve had this unit for a few weeks now and just love it! The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for 4 hrs+. No burnt taste as the coffee is not heated on a burner, just kept hot in the carafe. Yes, the carafe is heavy and needs to be tilted to get the pour, but that’s just the way it is. Options to make the coffee bold adds a little bit more boost for the morning cuppa Joe.
